Song Seung Heon on His Character in “Black Knight”: “Am I a Villain? Not Entirely Bad”

On the morning of the 10th, the Netflix series Black Knight production presentation was held at provoke Seoul in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul. Director Cho Ui Seok and actors Kim Woo Bin, Song Seung Heon, Kang Yoo Seok, and Esom attended the event. Song Seung Heon, who plays the role of Ryu Seok, said, “In the near future, the Earth will become a desert, and oxygen will become crucial. The Cheonmyeong Group seeks to create a new order with oxygen. Ryu Seok, as their representative, has his own beliefs and a great objective. He mobilizes refugees to migrate to a new territory in a saturated environment. There is a secret in this process. He is a character who seeks to dominate in the new order.”

He further explained, “Many people think that the role I play is a villain or antagonist. From a binary perspective, one might consider him as such. However, Ryu Seok has his own beliefs, and the reasons behind his actions can be understood by watching the drama. When you see that, you won’t be able to label Ryu Seok as entirely bad.”

Black Knight depicts the events that unfold as the Korean peninsula becomes a place where one cannot survive without an oxygen respirator. The legendary delivery driver named 5-8 and refugee Sa Wol stand against the Cheonmyeong Group, which dominates the new world. The series will be released on the 12th at 4 PM KST.
