Followers of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City recently got their first look at Jen Shah sporting her prison uniform behind bars. The mother of two was convicted of defrauding elderly people in a nationwide telemarketing scam but denied her part in it for years. Now Jen is finally getting settled in to her new concrete home.
Page Six recently posted some photos of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City‘s Jen Shah walking in the courtyard of her prison, which was reshared by @the_bravo_chicks.
In the photos, Jen can be seen wearing her hair tied back in a low ponytail as she walked in the yard of the Bryan Federal Prison Camp with a new friend. Jen and the other inmate were wearing khaki-colored jumpsuits and seemed to be enjoying their afternoon chat. The RHOSLC star is only a few months into her six-and-half-year prison sentence but is trying to make the most of it.
RHOSLC’s Jen Shah Receives Nickname In Prison
Jen has been keeping busy at the Texas facility, with Page Six revealing she has become an exercise teacher for the rest of her fellow inmates. The RHOSLC star has even earned herself the name “Jen Fonda.” The mother of two has been able to still wear some simple jewelry like her gold earrings, with Jen’s assistant telling Page Six she is doing “phenomenal” under the circumstances.
After years of claiming her innocence, Jen surprised her fellow RHOSLC cast members by pleading guilty in July 2022. The 49-year-old was first arrested in March 2021 while she was filming RHOSLC season 2. Bravo cameras caught Jen receiving a heads-up phone call that she claimed was her cousin telling her that her husband was in the hospital. However, the caller on the other line was Jen’s husband Sharrieff telling his wife that federal law enforcement was coming for her. In the end, Jen was arrested on the side of the road for wire fraud and money laundering charges in connection with a nationwide telemarketing scheme.
Even though she is behind bars, Jen has still found herself in some trouble, as it was recently revealed that she hadn’t yet paid her lawyers. The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star’s former attorney, Priya Chaudhry, filed a motion to withdraw as counsel back in March. Priya stated that Jen breached her contract and owed $124,422.95 in unpaid fees and expenses. For now, Jen is looking to get herself into a routine, but she was given some good news: she was recently told that her sentence had been reduced by one year.
