The largest anime and manga database website MyAnimeList has been taken down for an emergency maintenance due to a sudden vulnerability that has come up, as reported on the official website on May 10, 2023.
“MyAnimeList is currently under emergency maintenance. Our team is working to investigate and repair a vulnerability that was discovered today at about 6AM PDT. At this time, we are unsure of how long the maintenance will take. We will update you once we know more. We apologize for any inconvenience this temporary situation has caused.“
Although it was never officially declared by the MAL team that it was hacked, many users pointed out that the titles of the anime in the website were mysteriously altered to the phrase ‘LETS ALL LOVE LAIN’. This was a reference to the anime Serial Experiments Lain.
While many users expressed their worry on whether their list will be reset, many found the hack hilarious and joined in the ‘LET’S ALL LOVE LAIN’ trend.

MyAnimeList, often abbreviated as MAL, is an anime and manga social networking and social cataloging application website run by volunteers. The site provides its users with a list-like system to organize and score anime and manga. It facilitates finding users who share similar tastes and provides a large database on anime and manga.
As of 2008, the site claimed to have 4.4 million anime and 775,000 manga entries.
