Listen to Spacehog’s ‘In the Meantime’ from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 – Leo Sigh

by AcklinEHuey

British alternative rock band Spacehog’s ‘In the Meantime’ was played on Marvel film Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 3 this month.

It is one of a slew of superb older rock songs featured on the superhero film’s soundtrack, including cool tracks from The The, The Flaming Lips, Faith No More, Earth, Wind and Fire and Radiohead.

Spacehog’s ‘In the Meantime’ was played as Peter Quill and team are heading out into space.

And it is one of those tracks you have heard a million times, immediately know what song is about to play when you hear that phone-ringing intro, but cannot for the life of you remember who performed it.

Well now we know that was British indie band Spacehog who released ‘In the Meantime‘ in 1995, both as a single and as one of the tracks on the band’s debut studio album Resident Alien.

The song went on to be a surprise hit for the band, hitting charts in eight countries, and with its biggest success in the United States where it peaked at #1 on the Mainstream Rock chart, at #32 on the Billboard Hot 100 and high on two other American charts.

In the band’s home country of the United Kingdom, Spacehog’s ‘In the Meantime‘ charted at #29 on the UK Singles chart.

In the Meantime‘ also climbed high up charts in Australia, Iceland, Canada, Scotland, New Zealand and Sweden.

Listen to Spacehog’s ‘In the Meantime’ as heard on Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 3 on the band’s official music video, and on Spotify.

Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 3 is now out in movie theaters worldwide, and has already grossed over $290 million.
