Kotton-Kon 2023 Gets Lauded As One Of Northeast India’s Largest Anime Festival For Promoting Anime Culture

The second edition of one of the largest anime festivals in Northeast India, Kotton-Kon 2023, was conducted by the Cotton Anime Society in the Kalaguru Bishnu Prasad Rabha Hall of Cotton University on April 9, 2023.

It featured various events such as Cosplay, Dancing, Singing, Anime Music Videos (AMV), Gaming with PS4, Anime Merchandise Stalls, Tattoo Stalls, Live Art, and an Anime Quiz. The events concluded with Hanabi show, which is culturally significant in Japan.

The event was sponsored by Guwahati Plus (GPlus), Maya Academy of Advanced Cinematics (MAAC) and Japan Center of Excellence (JACEEX).

Kotton-Kon 2023 had a footfall of over 800 fans, with over 65 cosplayers taking part in the events.

The convention was a huge success this year, as evident from the attendees lauding it as one of the largest anime festivals in Northeast India for, as well as for promoting the culture and the love for anime in India.

Various anime communities from around India, namely Assam Senpai Society, Guwahati Anime Club, and Assam Cosplay Community, also showered their love and support for the convention.

The President of Cotton Anime Society Mehek Chowdhury expressed how proud and happy she was with the response from the audiences, saying that the entire team had put their everything and made the dream of organizing a grand event a reality, and that she was thankful to all the support they received from everyone for contributing to make it successful.

She further added that “Kotton-Kon started as a small dream of a few University students to contribute something from their side for the love of anime. However, in the two years since its inception, Kotton-Kon has grown to become one of Assam’s largest anime festivals, and we are extremely grateful for the overwhelming support and love it has received. The previous Kotton-Kon which was held in December, 2021 saw huge audience response and we were determined to bring Kotton-Kon back in a bigger and better way.

KOTTON KON is an annual anime convention organized by the Cotton Anime Society, a community of enthusiasts who share a passion for Japanese animation and culture.

Over the past two years, the annual anime convention has grown in popularity, attracting a large and diverse audience from all walks of life. It has proven to be one of the largest and most successful anime events organized in Guwahati, Assam. The event brings together anime fans from all across the city, as well as from adjacent cities/states, for a day of fun programmes, cosplay, and other interesting events.
