Herbie Hancock, Erykah Badu Lead 2023 Event – Rolling Stone

by AcklinEHuey

Erykah Badu and Herbie Hancock lead a lineup largely stacked with soul, R&B, jazz, and hip-hop talent that’ll appear at the 2023 LA3C festival.

Along with Badu and Hancock, the lineup features Kamasi Washington, Flying Lotus, Terrace Martin, Sudan Archives, Lonnie Holley, Aja Monet, Shabazz Palaces, Kilo Kish, Marc Rebillet, Fred Armisen, Pauli the PSM, and more. A full lineup is available on the LA3C website

LA3C is owned and promoted by Rolling Stone’s parent company, Penske Media Corporation. It will take place Nov. 10 through 12 at various venues around Los Angeles, including the Theatre at the Ace Hotel, the Los Angeles Theatre, Orpheum Theatre, and the Palace Theatre (events will also spill out onto surrounding lots). Tickets will go on sale Sept. 22 at 9 a.m. PT.

On top of all the music, LA3C will boast additional food and film programming, plus a giant flea market highlighting Black businesses and creators from L.A. For those looking to eat, LA3C has partnered with Biite Club to create “The Marketplace,” a massive outdoor dining plaza with grub from chefs and restaurants around the city. The Marketplace will also host a handful of music performances, including a DJ set from Questlove and Novena Carmel.

As for the festival’s film slate, it hasn’t been announced yet, but it will be presented by the organization, Women Under the Influence

LA3C was first announced in 2021, though the inaugural event was delayed by a year because of the coronavirus pandemic. When the festival launched in 2022, it featured performances from Lil Baby, Snoop Dogg, Maluma, Seventeen, Snow Tha Product, Chesca, and more.
