Man, I hope Allen Ren (Ren Jia Lun) doesn’t follow up a turd with another turd. I surprisingly enjoyed The Blue Whisper hence got all excited for Thousand Years for You which felt like Thousand Years of Dull when it arrived. He’s got The Demon Hunter’s Romance (Wu You Du) with Song Zhu Er just filmed and now he’s filming Wu Geng Ji with Xing Fei (Fair Xing) but with the weirdness in C-drama airing it’s not clear which one will arrive on the small screens first. I hope it’s Demon Hunters even though I like Xing Fei more than Song Zhu Er because if the first promo posters for Wu Geng Ji are to be judged on its face it looks AWFUL. Like, so cringe and elementary with the black and red scheme and poorly photoshopped characters posed from what looks like their costume fitting. People complain about the costumes in Till the End of the Moon being so overly ornate and too much detail but the costumes here are straight bargain bin from an RPG convention cosplay. And I’m not even sure if it’s a good or bad thing that there are tons of veterans in cameo roles from Chen Qiao En, Ming Dao, Yan Yi Kuan, Xu Zheng Xi, Ma Su, and more.
