5+ Romantic K-Dramas For People Who Hate Toxic Male Leads

by Anna-Liisa Haapakoski

K-Dramas often portray swoon-worthy love stories that viewers can’t help but get invested in. But even though these relationships might be captivating, K-Dramas often add toxic elements to the romances to keep viewers on the edge of their seats.

Viewers pretty unanimously agree that both characters in “Nevertheless” are red flags

But while there are many K-Dramas where the male leads practically wave their red flags, there are also several dramas where the male leads are walking green flags.

Here are six romantic K-Dramas for viewers who hate toxic male leads.

1. “Crash Landing On You”

One of the most well-known dramas, Crash Landing On You tells the story of Yoon Se Ri (Son Ye Jin), a South Korean heiress who unexpectedly lands in North Korea, where she meets Ri Jeong Hyeok (Hyun Bin).

4. “Her Private Life”

Her Private Life actually starts as an “enemies to lovers” type of trope, with the two main characters, Sung Deok Mi (Park Min Young) and Ryan (Kim Jae Wook), clashing when they first meet. But through communication, the two begin to support each other, leading to a deeper connection.

Fans of the series especially highlight how supportive Ryan is of Sung Deok Mi, especially when it comes to her love of a K-Pop idol.
